Avatar – Master of Elements

A VR 1v1 fighting game that translates full-body motion into elemental attacks via Microsoft Kinect.

In Avatar – Master of Elements, two players compete against each other in a virtual arena and summon elemental attacks solely through body movement. A Microsoft Kinect is used to capture a sequence of body postures. These postures are analyzed and evaluated. The more precisely the players assume the required poses, the stronger the unleashed attack becomes. The project investigated how full-body motion tracking can be used for intuitive interaction in VR.

As part of the project, a scientific study on UI preferences in virtual reality environments was also conducted. Developed by our co-founders David Bernhardt, Alexander Lysek, and others as part of their studies at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences.
